Foot: I Heart Novels article

I have to say this article really made me think. I have never heard of someone using their cellphone to write a novel about their life. Especially about the experiences that this young woman has experienced. Finding out that a man you love is actually your half brother, and that your father isn't your biological father must be really tough, on top of being abducted and raped so brutally. For her to even want to tell her story is amazing, and I can't believe that she used her cellphone to do it. I have often contemplated about writing my own novel, thought my life isn't really that interesting to write about, I find solace in writing. Just like this young woman does it seems. I think it's very interesting when talking about using cellphones as a type of text in the classroom as well.

Since I haven't heard a lot about cellphone novels, I assume that they haven't quite become as popular as they could be. In today's world there is so much that cellphones can do that it shouldn't surprise me that people can write novels on them. I don't think I would use this in my classroom, unless I was having them write something outside of class. For instance if we were on a field trip and they had to submit something about their experience they could use a cellphone to write it and send it to me. I think the problem with cellphone novels is that it probably has a lot of slang terms and acronyms because of the fact that people don't write the same on a computer as they do on a cellphone. I think that this tool could help students when writing though to get their ideas out right as they have them instead of waiting to get home and write about it. I find it really interesting that this woman wrote about her life from a cellphone, and in the future it could be something I may have to teach.
